How Long Does a Chemical Peel Last
The chemical peel that we perform at Skin Technique has a cumulative effect. A light, or superficial, peel produces results that usually last between one and two months. A medium peel will usually last three and six months, while a deep peel can last for years. The most significant factor in determining the longevity of a chemical peel’s results is the strength of the peel. A light peel may need to be repeated more frequently to maintain results, while a deep peel can provide long-lasting improvement with just one or two treatments.
How Long Does It Take to Recover from a Chemical Peel?
There is no downtime associated with the chemical peels performed at our clinic. However, you may experience redness, slight skin peeling and warmth in or around the area post-treatment.
What Is a Chemical Peel?
A chemical peel is a popular treatment option that involves using specialized chemicals to remove dead skin cells from the surface layer of your skin. This process helps to reveal new and healthy skin underneath, resulting in smoother, more even-toned skin overall. Additionally, a chemical peel can help to boost collagen production and reduce fine lines and scarring.
Are You a Candidate for a Chemical Peel?
Patients who seek to improve skin texture and radiance, fade brown spots, acne treatment, brighter complexion, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and refined pores would be ideal candidates.

What Are the Risks for Chemical Peel
Most who undergo a chemical will not have any lasting side effects. With over ten years of practice, Dr. Christopher Pavlou and his team are exceptionally trained in chemical peel treatments, making the risk of a significant complication extremely low. Some possible side effects include:
- Scarring
- Changes in skin colour
- Infection
How to Prepare for a Chemical Peel
Before your treatment, Dr. Christopher Pavlou and his team will review your medications and medical history. Based on the treatment, they may recommend stopping certain medicines before the treatment. Keep the targeted area well-moisturized before your treatment. Arrive at your appointment with no make-up or cream on the targeted area.
What to Expect Post Chemical Peel
When undergoing a chemical peel, it’s important to be prepared for what you might experience following the treatment. Some common side effects of a chemical peel can include irritation and redness of the skin, swelling, and peeling.
In most cases, these side effects will subside after a few days as your skin adjusts to the treatment and regenerates itself. It’s also essential that you take good care of your skin post-peel by staying out of the sun and using moisturizing lotions regularly. The Skin Technique team is happy to recommend any post-procedure products that you may benefit from.
Chemical Peel Recovery & Timeline
While there is not much recovery time, your skin will go through some changes. Your skin will likely appear red and irritated for the first 24 hours. This is perfectly normal and a sign that your skin is starting to exfoliate as part of the post-chemical peel healing process.
To soothe your irritated skin, it is recommended that you liberally apply moisturizer throughout this period.
During the first 3 to 7 days after your treatment, your skin will be quite sensitive. We advise patients to avoid direct sun exposure and wear SPF.
Within 7 to 14 days, your skin will show the substantial benefits of this treatment.
How does Dr. Christopher Pavlou perform a Chemical Peel?
The chemical peel is applied to the skin to resurface the top layer of the skin to promote the growth of new skin cells. The regenerated skin is smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin, creating a fresh-faced glow.
