Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get Coolsculpting?
Most people can safely be treated with Coolsculpting. You may be a good candidate if you have a problem with stubborn fat. This procedure is best when it’s targeting specific spots. It’s not like a gastric bypass, and is not done for emergency reasons. For small, stubborn spots it can be as effective as procedures like liposuction.
How much does CoolSculpting cost?
The cost of CoolSculpting in Vancouver can vary by clinic. At Skin Technique, CoolSculpting starts at $750 per treatment area. We recommend you schedule at least 2 cycles 1-2 months apart. You can discuss CoolSculpting costs with one of our experienced technicians during your initial consultation.
What is a session like? How many sessions does it take to get results?
A session is a very easy process where you sit down as a care professional gently applies the Coolsculpting device. People very rarely report any pain from the feeling of the device working, and you can learn more about the feeling in a question below. All Coolsculpting treatments plans are customized to individual needs. Generally, if more areas are being treated, the treatment takes longer to complete.
Multiple sessions may be necessary for comprehensive treatment plans.
What happens to the fat? Is it gone for good?
The cells are frozen by the process. As a result of this, they are marked for removal by the body as if they were any other cell that had taken damage. These cells are removed completely, and they are gone for good. However, new cells can develop in the same area if the body starts storing new fat.
What will I feel during the Coolsculpting procedure?
There are several phases of the procedure. During the first few minutes, you’ll feel both pressure and a freezing sensation. However, this doesn’t last very long for most people. It becomes steadily numb after a few minutes, and then it’s just a matter of waiting. Patients who have had the procedure before often like to come prepared with laptops, podcasts, music or other ways to pass the time.
Is Coolsculpting Safe?
Coolsculpting is a safe procedure that has been performed well over a million times all over the globe. One of the reasons that it’s considered safe is that it’s strictly approved for only certain areas where the cold has no chance of reaching or affecting important systems. The FDA has cleared it for use on the love handles, thighs, abdomen and chin.
Have side effects been reported?
There are a variety of sensations that people have reported experiencing during the procedure itself. These include feelings of tugging, numbness and pinching. Shortly after the procedure is complete, you may feel some other sensations including stinging and tingling. Your skin may show minor signs of swelling or bruising.
There are some disorders that make you ineligible for Coolsculpting. If you suffer from cryoglobulinemia or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria, your skin should not be exposed to the sensations caused by this treatment.
Any additional questions or concerns can be addressed at your initial consultation.
