What Is Microneedling with Radio Frequency?
When we combine microneedling with RF, the added benefit of extra collagen stimulation in addition to the microneedling can give remarkable results. Similarly to traditional microneedling, microneedling with radio frequency uses very thin needles that create microscopic punctures in the skin. The cells and tissues are then heated and regenerated by the radio frequency, helping to firm and tighten the skin.
What Is Intensif®?
Intensif® is a revolutionary skin treatment that uses microneedles to deliver radio-frequency energy deep into the dermis, the layer of skin located beneath the surface. Over time, as this specialized radio-frequency energy works its way into the targeted tissue, it encourages new, younger-looking skin to replace it. Thanks to Intensif®, achieving a youthful and radiant complexion has never been easier or more effective!

Benefits of Intensif® RF Microneedling
Intensif® is a cutting-edge microneedling therapy that uses unique radiofrequency technology to deliver superior results compared to regular microneedling treatments. Those with the following areas of concern can benefit from Intensif®:
- Acne Scars. Due to its rejuvenating properties, the heat from the RF technology helps heal acne scars, reducing any redness and texture to eliminate them.
- Sagging Skin. Intensif® is known for its firming capabilities, tightening sagging skin to turn back the clock.
- Pigmentation. When you receive a rejuvenating treatment like Intensif® RF microneedling, you will see corrections in discolouration concerns on your skin, such as hyperpigmentation, redness, rosacea, acne, and age/sun spots.
- Enlarged Pores. Along with reducing the appearance of acne and acne scars, this treatment also reduces the appearance of enlarged pores by tightening and refreshing the skin.
- Stretch Marks. Stretch marks occur due to several factors that stretch the skin, such as weight gain, puberty, or pregnancy. When the skin is firmed and receives an influx of collagen, like during an Intensif® treatment, the appearance of stretch marks, fine lines, and skin dimpling is reduced.
What Are the Risks of Intensif® RF Microneedling?
Some risks are associated with an Intensif® treatment, but pain and inflammation at the injection site are most common. There is a risk of infection or scarring if the patient does not follow proper care post-treatment. Due to these potential risks, it is essential to follow post-treatment instructions by your Skin Technique specialist to minimize possible complications.
How to Prepare for Intensif®
Before your treatment, there are certain precautions that you should take to ensure the best results:
- Stay out of the sun for at least 24 hours
- Do not use Retin-A products for 12 hours
- Do not wear makeup on the day of your appointment
Arrive with clean skin, and ensure the area is clean-shaven. If you are dealing with acne, eczema or cold sore breakout, please call Skin Technique to see if your appointment needs to be rescheduled.
How Long Does Intensif® Last?
The effects of Intensif® will last indefinitely with maintenance treatments.
How Long Does It Take to Recover from Intensif®?
It takes roughly a day to recover from Intensif®. After your treatment, you will appear to have warm and tight sun burnt skin; this is entirely normal and will dissipate within a few hours.
What to Expect Post Intensif®
Unlike traditional laser treatments, Intensif® uses a fractional radio frequency delivery system to target only a small skin area at a time. This helps to minimize the risk of side effects and downtime. Immediately after the Intensif® microneedling treatment, you will appear to have sunburnt skin.
Your skin will feel warm and tighter than usual, but this is normal, and the redness will fade after a few hours. You may also experience some swelling, crusting, or peeling in the treated area. These side effects are temporary and will resolve within a few days. Learn more about microneedling aftercare with our blog here.
Intensif® Recovery & Timeline
After 48 hours, clients can resume their usual skincare routine. After your procedure, any serum applied to your face should stay on the face overnight. Some patients feel that sunscreen may feel irritating, but it is necessary after the first few days after treatment. Direct sunlight should be kept to a minimum for at least 3 days.
If your Intensif® treatment was done on a sensitive area, there might be slight bruising, but it will subside within 3-4 days. Any scabs that appear on the treated site should not be picked and are a normal process of the healing stage. Results will be seen within 1 – 4 weeks.

How Does Dr. Christopher Pavlou Perform an Intensif® Treatment?
This popular radio frequency procedure involves the application of microneedles to the skin, which penetrate the outer layer to deliver targeted energy directly into the dermis. Each treatment session typically takes 45-60 minutes, during which active energy is delivered to the skin in slow, even pulses. Since each person’s skin condition is unique, a series of Intensif® microneedling treatments spaced approximately four weeks apart are typically required to achieve optimal results.
