The 3 Biggest Botox Myths You Need To Stop Believing

The number one nonsurgical cosmetic procedure year after year is Botox. Last year over 6 million Botox procedures were performed worldwide. At Skin Technique alone we injected over 100,000 units in 2021! Yet there are still so many misconceptions about this wonder drug that I literally hear every day. The 3 most common Botox myths you need to stop believing:

Myth 1: If I stop doing Botox my face will look worse.

The reverse is the actual truth – you look better because you’ve had Botox. Your existing wrinkles are diminished, and you appear rested. If you stop doing Botox your wrinkles return to the way they used to be. It’s not the Botox ’s fault you stopped! Interestingly I only hear this myth from people who haven’t had the procedure. There’s a good reason it’s the number one nonsurgical cosmetic procedure worldwide!

Myth 2: Botox will make me look frozen.

When injected correctly Botox results in a very naturally rested appearance. The frozen look only occurs if it’s injected by someone who isn’t experienced in delivering natural results. Botox is not a cookie cutter treatment, and the dose needs to be adjusted to the patient’s desired outcomes and unique anatomy. The goal is to not be able to tell when someone has had Botox.

Myth 3: Botox is a toxic poison.

Botox is derived from botulinum toxin. Botox is not the same as botulism, and you cannot contract botulism from Botox!

The use of Botox is extremely regulated and controlled and has been in use for over 20 years in cosmetic medicine. There are over 3000 studies proving its safety and efficacy!
