Common Types of Skin Conditions & How to Treat Them.Overview

There are many skin conditions, and they can be both embarrassing and uncomfortable. In this blog post, we will discuss the most common types of skin conditions and how to treat them. Remember that each person’s skin is different, so what works for one person may not work for another. If you are experiencing a skin condition causing you discomfort or embarrassment, please consult a professional for advice.

What Causes Skin Conditions?

Skin conditions can have many causes, ranging from allergies to genetics. Common skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis are often caused by an overactive immune system, while rosacea is often the result of inflammation.

Skin conditions can also be caused by exposure to irritants, such as harsh chemicals or detergents. In some cases, skin conditions are the result of underlying health problems, such as diabetes or hormonal imbalances.

Additionally, certain medications can also cause skin problems as a side effect. Once the cause of a skin condition is determined, it can often be effectively treated. However, skin conditions may be chronic and require lifelong management in some cases.

Acne

Acne is a common skin condition that affects people of all ages. One of the main factors is hormone levels. During puberty, for example, increases in testosterone can lead to an increase in sebum production. Sebum is an oily substance that helps to keep the skin moisturized. However, when too much sebum is produced, it can clog pores and trap dead skin cells, allowing bacteria to flourish.

Genetics also plays a role in acne development, as people who have family members with acne are more likely to develop the condition themselves. In addition, certain medications and cosmetics can irritate the skin and trigger breakouts.

At Skin Technique, we have a variety of treatments to help combat acne. These include Forever Clear BBL, Microneedling, and Chemical Peels

We also carry two at-home skin care treatments, Complexion Clearing Program and the Acne Treatment System.

Sunburn

Sunburn is a result of overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays. These rays are part of the sunlight that reaches the earth. They are invisible and cannot be seen or felt, but they can damage the skin in as little as 15 minutes. UV rays are classified into two types: UVA and UVB. UVA rays penetrate deep into the skin and are the leading cause of premature aging and wrinkling. UVB rays affect the outer layer of skin and are the leading cause of sunburn.

One of the best ways to prevent sunburn is to use sunscreen. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 and apply it liberally to all exposed skin. It’s also a good idea to wear protective clothing, such as a hat, a long-sleeved shirt, and long pants. If you are going to be in the sun for an extended period of time, be sure to take breaks in the shade and stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that causes symptoms such as redness, swelling, and blemishes on the face. Though the exact cause of rosacea is unknown, several factors may contribute to the development of the condition. These include sun exposure, emotional stress, hot drinks, and spicy foods.

Rosacea is most common in middle-aged adults, but it can affect people of all ages. The condition is not contagious, but it can be painful and embarrassing. There is no cure for rosacea, but treatments are available to help relieve symptoms and prevent flare-ups. If you think you may have rosacea, it is important to see a dermatologist for an accurate diagnosis.

At Skin Technique, we have a variety of treatments to help combat rosacea. These include the Forever Young BBL™ Laser and ClearV™. At-home skin care products are available for purchase online or at our clinic that can help with rosacea, such as The Redness Program, Rozatrol®, and Redness Solution Complex

Dry Skin

Dry skin is a common problem that can affect anyone at any age. There are many possible causes of dry skin, including weather, certain medical conditions, and lifestyle choices. For example, cold weather can cause your skin to lose moisture, while indoor heating can worsen the problem. If you have a medical condition like eczema or psoriasis, you may also experience dry skin. In addition, if you take hot showers or baths, use harsh soaps, or wear tight clothing, you may be more likely to develop dry skin. Although it is often a nuisance, dry skin is usually not serious.

Luckily, Skin Technique offers treatment solutions for this common skin issue! Treatments we offer include AquaGold, Hydrafacials, and Volite. We also have skin care products available for purchase, like the ZO Skin Health Exfoliating Polish and their Enzymatic Peel

Skin Pigmentation

Skin pigmentation is the result of cells in the skin producing more melanin, the pigment that gives skin its color. There are a number of different factors that can cause these cells to produce more melanin, including sun exposure, hormones, and certain medications. While skin pigmentation is generally considered harmless, some people may seek to treat it for cosmetic reasons.

Skin Technique offers treatments like the Forever Young BBL™ Laser, Microneedling, BBL Hero™, and HALO™ Fractional Resurfacing to help with skin pigmentation issues. There are a variety of products available to help reduce pigmentation that we also carry, such as the 2% Hydroquinone Hyperpigmentation Program, Complexion Clearing Program, and Discoloration Defense
