How Long Does It Take to Recover from Dermaplaning?

There is no recovery or downtime with dermaplaning.

What Is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a method of exfoliation and is the perfect add-on treatment to lasers, peels, and facials to enhance results. It removes “peach fuzz” on the skin, removes 2-3 weeks of dead skin cells, and promotes the penetration of skin care products.

Are You a Candidate for Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is generally safe for all skin types, but it’s important to consult with a qualified aesthetician before undergoing the procedure. Dermaplaning should not be done if you have active acne breakouts, open wounds, or sunburns.

What Are the Risks of Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a low-risk procedure, especially when done by a professional. The most common side effect of dermaplaning is temporary redness and inflammation of the skin. This usually subsides within a few hours after the procedure.

How to Prepare for Dermaplaning

While this is a quick and easy procedure, there are a few steps to take before your appointment to ensure the best results. Before you come to Skin Technique, we ask that you:

  • Refrain from exfoliating the face 5 days before
  • Do not wax the area 2 weeks before
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure
  • If you have an extreme breakout, we ask that you reschedule your appointment.

What to Expect Post Dermaplaning

Immediately following your dermaplaning procedure, you will see results; however, there may be some slight redness and inflammation of the skin. The full results of your session will be seen roughly 48 hours post-procedure.

Dermaplaning Recovery & Timeline

There is no recovery or downtime associated with dermaplaning; however, we ask that you stay out of direct sunlight, use a gentle cleanser on your skin, and not exfoliate. If you would like, you can book your following dermaplaning procedure before you leave the clinic!
