Here Comes The Bride
With 3 sisters who are now all married, I have witnessed firsthand the frantic preparation and chaos that surrounds a big Greek wedding. But being in cosmetic medicine has also shown me that whether you have 500 guests at your wedding or 5 of your nearest and dearest, every bride wants to look their best on their big day.
I have devised a treatment/skin pampering plan for the weeks and months leading up to your wedding day so that you have one less thing to worry about. We have seen way too many brides-to-be at Skin Technique seeking a skin transformation days before their wedding! This plan will guide you to book specific treatments in a timely fashion to look your best, in time.
Let’s assume you are going to be a June/July/August bride – the 3 most popular months for weddings in North America. The schedule can be altered to fit your customized needs, and can also be applied to the bridal party, mother of the bride, etc.
Even though wedding season is a few months away, NOW is the time to start thinking about prepping for the big event! Whether you are the bride, in the bridal party, mother of the bride, or simply a wedding attendee, everyone wants to look and feel their best.
Now is the time to get your consultation — speak to the experts about reaching your goals in time for the big day. Depending on your concerns we can devise a customized treatment plan for the months weeks and days leading up to your wedding that may include booking in for a combination or series of laser or microneedling treatments, or even body contouring if this is your goal.
If you are not on one already, April is your deadline to get on a proper medical grade skin care routine that agrees with your skin type and targets specific concerns. This will be discussed at your consultation with our experienced skin care experts. At Skin Technique we carry the top medical grade, physician approved brands that are backed by science and proven to deliver results.
Most importantly however, make sure you are using sunscreen daily, and just like skincare, not all sunscreens are created equally. A proper medical grade sunscreen will be recommended at your initial consultation.
3 months before your big day is a good time to address any pigment/sunspots as well as textural issues. This is a time for lasers, resurfacing treatments and chemical peels. Depending on your skin type, I would suggest Forever Young BBL to clear the skin of any brown or red spots, or a Halo Fractional Resurfacing treatment that will address multiple textural skin concerns with one treatment, resulting in a beautiful #haloglow on your wedding day. Our Glow peels are also beautiful to gently lift pigment and give the skin a clear complexion, and can be repeated in the months leading up to your wedding.
If you have some scarring from previous acne that you would like to minimize, try starting at least 3 months before the wedding to stimulate collagen in these areas with Microneedling treatments, ideally combined with PRP (platelet rich plasma).
This is also an excellent time to get rid of stubborn areas of fat with Coolsculpting, as these results take between 1-3 months to be visible. Our most requested areas to treat prior to weddings are upper arms and bra fat. To get the body toned for the big day I would suggest a series of 4 Emsculpt treatments over a 2-week period. By the time you get married you should expect a reduction in fat and increase in muscle tone – perfect for your honeymoon!
I would recommend addressing facial features and your side profile at least 1-2 months before the wedding day. This is a good time to treat the angles of the face considering they will be captured in many photos. A stronger jawline helps disguise a small double chin, the Non-Surgical Nose Job and Chin Enhancement procedures both provide a beautiful balance to the facial profile. Every woman looks beautiful with naturally enhanced cheek bones and lips, and this would be the perfect time to do these injectable procedures. Be sure to have already started your medical grade skin care products at least 2 months before. This is a good time to have your skin assessed by one of our clinicians, who will devise a customized at-home skin care routine for you.
If all the wedding preparations have you stressed and sleepless I would recommend my signature MystLift™ procedure one month before to reduce a fatigued appearance and give the face a naturally rested, filtered look. Getting this treatment at least one month before allows for a 2 week follow up and any necessary touch-ups or tweaks. It will also allow enough time for any possible bruising to settle.
One month before the big day is the best time to get your anti-wrinkle injections. Squinting in the sun at an outdoor wedding may make you look angry. Small amounts of anti-wrinkle injections to the forehead and smile lines will allow a smooth application of makeup. Plan this at least one month before so that 2-week touch-ups are possible, if necessary.
We hear wedding bells! All your invasive procedures should now have concluded. This is a time to nourish and pamper your skin to glow beautifully on the big day. Treatments should be aimed at gently exfoliating the skin while hydrating and softening it. The Dermaplaning-Hydrafacial treatment is a very effective 2 in1 treatment to rid the skin of peach fuzz and intensely hydrate it for the smooth application of makeup. This can be done 2 weeks before and another Hydrafacial can be done one week before the wedding day to prolong the hydrating and brightening effect. I also love AquaGold for my brides as it gently stamps the skin with nourishing vitamins and peptides to minimize pores and give the skin a glowing, porcelain-like complexion.
